Maga Jackson-Triche is Chief of Psychiatry and Director of Mental Health at the New Orleans Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Tulane School of Medicine and an Associate Professor in the Tulane School of Public Health. Dr. Jackson-Triche received her medical degree from the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago, and her Master of Science in Health Services from the UCLA School of Public Health. Her research interests include the recognition and treatment of depression in ethnic minority group patients and in primary care populations. Currently, Dr. Jackson-Triche is researching health communication and media strategies as part of an initiative aimed at developing and utilizing new strategies to enhance disease prevention and health management. Additionally, she is developing academic-community partnerships that focus on identifying and achieving mutually defined health goals. Dr. Jackson-Triche is first author of Beating Depression: The Journey to Hope, published in June 2002.
