Ira Wohl is an Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker with over 25 years of experience producing, directing and editing films internationally. Most recently, Ira Wohl produced (with Katie Cadigan) the 2003 documentary feature, "People Say IÕm Crazy", the first-ever film conceived of, photographed, and directed by someone with schizophrenia. He wrote and directed two documentaries about his adult mentally retarded cousin: "Best Boy", which won the 1980 Oscar for Best Documentary Feature; and a 20-years later sequel, "Best Man". Ira Wohl holds a masterÕs degree in Social Work from USC and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practice at UCLAÕs Neuropsychiatric Hospital and Institute. For the past 12 years, Wohl has specialized in working with adults and children who have serious mental disorders. In 1995 he produced, directed, and edited a three-hour series entitled Diagnosis According to the DSM-IV. Through interviews with clients suffering from a variety of illnesses, this video set takes into account the latest diagnostic manualÕs criteria for ten major disorders- among them depression, schizophrenia, panic, obsessive compulsive disorder, and anorexia. Still actively distributed today, these videos are on the shelves of thousands of post-graduate libraries, as well as those of private practitioners. Currently, Wohl is finishing post-production on a new film.
