LA Care
LA Care strives to ensure the provision of culturally sensitive and linguistically competent quality health care services to the Medi-Cal population in Los Angeles County through the Safety Net Providers and our health partners, to promote health and disease prevention, to continuously improve the knowledge and effectiveness of our provider community, and to assist in the provision of the same quality of services for the vulnerable populations. Established in 1994 by the California Legislature and Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, LA Care serves the County with the help of local health care stakeholders (consumers, health professionals, advocates, etc.). LA Care operates through three major programs. The Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, and CaliforniaKids Programs are contractual relationships with physician groups, hospitals, ancillary services, and five HMOs (Blue Cross of California, Care 1st Health Plan, Community Health Plan, Kaiser Permanente, and UHP Healthcare).
