Bowen Chung, M.D., M.S.H.S.
Bowen Chung, M.D., M.S.H.S. is an Assistant Professor
in Residence in the Department of Psychiatry at the David Geffen School
of Medicine at UCLA and an Adjunct Scientist at the RAND Corporation.
Dr. Chung is currently an attending child and adolescent psychiatrist
at Harbor - UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, CA. He received his M.D.
at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and his M.S.H.S. at the UCLA School
of Public Health.
Dr. Chung career interests are in community partnered participatory research, community based participatory research, quality improvement for depression care, health disparities, and quality of care for pediatric populations. He is currently receiving funding on a diversity supplement (Community Partners in Care, R01, P.I. Kenneth B, Wells) from the NIMH to understand how to improve access to care for quality depression services for transitional age youth (18-25 years old) in low income, community safety net settings. In addition, Dr. Chung lead a 2 year partnership funded by the California Endowment to develop a Restoration Center ("one stop shopping for social services, mental health, and health services for persons of African descent") in South Los Angeles. The lead partners in this endeavor were West Angeles Church of God in Christ, Kaiser Permanante Watts Learning and Counseling Center, Healthy African American Families, United Women in Transition, The Ecumenical Council of Black Churches, Charles Drew University, California State University / Dominguez Hills, RAND, and UCLA. .
