Carol Eisen, M.D., M.S.
Dr. Eisen is a Regional Medical Director for the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) and serves as the Liaison between the Center and the County DMH. As a participant in the NIMH Faculty Scholars Program, Dr. Eisen received training in health services research methods, focusing on quality improvement and care for underserved populations. She received her M.D. from the UMDNJ, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and her M.S. from UCLA. Over the past four years, Dr. Eisen has conducted analyses on substance abuse and the effects of stigma on depression using data from Partners in Care, a large national quality-improvement intervention study for depression in primary care. She was Co-Principal Investigator on a grant from Eli Lilly to analyze pharmacy claims data to describe prescribing practices in the public sector. Dr. Eisen also has designed surveys for clinical quality assessment purposes; created systems to assess functioning of individuals with serious persistent mental illness; and co-led a quality improvement initiative with 12 community mental health clinics to decrease waiting times for treatment, and to provide more patient centered treatment. |
