Dr. Lagomasino is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the USC Keck School of Medicine. Her professional interests are related to improving the quality of mental health care in public sector systems of care, reducing barriers to care for the poor with psychiatric disorders, and examining the effectiveness of treatments for depressive disorders. Dr. Lagomasino received her M.D. from the University of Miami School of Medicine and her M.S.H.S. from the UCLA School of Public Health. She is currently P.I. of the NIMH-funded R01, "Patient-Centered Care in the Public Sector," a project that seeks to develop practical, sustainable, and cost-effective depression interventions for public sector primary settings that are also directly responsive to patients' preferences and needs. She is also co-P.I. of the NIMH-funded R34, "Self-Management for Depression and Medical illness," a study that examines the effectiveness of current patient group self-management programs for use with persons suffering from both depression and medical illness and adapts these programs to fit their needs.
