Dr. Stockdale, a senior statistician at the UCLA/NPI Health Services Research Center, is an organizational researcher skilled in both quantitative and qualitative (historical comparative) research methodology. She completed her Ph.D. in Sociology at UCLA in March 2003. Since she joined HSRC in August 2003, she has been working on developing hierarchical models to explain the effects of neighborhood factors on individual need for MHSA care and access to care. In addition, she has collaborated on research examining disparities in MHSA need, care, and treatment. Dr. Stockdale's past research spans a broad range of topics from education and health care to criminal justice and political economy. Her past program evaluation work includes examining the effectiveness of physician interventions for increasing cancer screening among primary care patients and the effectiveness of faith-based interventions for promoting cancer screening among underserved and under-screened groups. Her work in organizational studies examined the impact of ideology, policymaking networks, and the strategies of public and private sector actors in reconstructing institutional boundaries over time. Dr. Stockdale is also currently working on designing a multi-tiered dissemination study to examine mental health care policy networks and their impact on access and quality of care.
