Marleen Wong, L.C.S.W., Ph.D.
Dr. Wong is Director of Crisis Counseling and Intervention Services for the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). She also serves as Director for the LAUSD/RAND/UCLA Trauma Services Adaptation Center for Schools and Communities, a member of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network funded by SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) at the US Department of Health and Human Services. Identified by the White House as one of the pre-eminent experts in school safety programs, Dr. Wong has developed school crisis and threat assessment teams, mental health recovery programs and training for school districts and law enforcement personnel in the United States, Canada, Asia and Israel. Awards include the first L.A. County Mental Health Commission "Personal Legacy Award" for national and international work on behalf of children's mental health and a Caregiver's Program Award from Johnson&Johnson and the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Human Development. Dr. Wong served on the National Academy of Sciences, Institute of Medicine Committee on Responding to the Psychological Consequences of Terrorism. Dr. Wong also completed a three-year term on the IOM's Board on Neuroscience and Behavioral Health, charged with assessing national priorities and approaches to public health and medical practice, public policy, research, education and training. |
